• WHY CBN NOT DIAMOND: It is determined by the inherent properties of the bond.In electroplated bond whetstones,the abrasive grains are not encased in the bond but exposed outside.Without the buffering and heat-conducting substances like bond between the grains,high temperatures are more easily generated.If diamond is chosen as abrasive,the carbon element in the diamond will react with the iron element,and the high temperature generated will cause the diamond stone to lose its sharpness,but there is no such problem with CBN as abrasive material.
